Start Sailing 1 is the perfect introduction to learning to sail on dinghies,

The 6 week course will teach you sailing theory, rigging, and on-water skills. We look forward to seeing you become competent sailors, gain confidence and have lots of fun out on the water. 

Please come to the Regatta room to sign on and be briefed for your program, or find a friendly instructor to direct you.

Remember this is a water sport so you will get wet, and it is often hot and the UV is strong. All safety equipment is provided. You will need to bring the following items:

• Wear clothing that can get wet, and that you can swim in. No jeans or tight fitting trousers. Board shorts are good. You could also wear a wet suit if you have one. Absolutely no cotton shirts – try a rashie, polyester, wool, rayon, etc. instead.
• Shoes that cover your toes, either neoprene booties, reef shoes, or old trainers.
• A hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. These are best tied on with string so you don't lose them overboard!
• A towel and a change of clothes. We have warm showers for after!
• A snack and a water bottle
